INTRODUCTION

About us:
Palmeiras Lodge is situated on mainland Mozambique 700 Km north of Maputo on the beach front in the village of Vilanculos. The village is the gateway to islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago and is easily accessible by road or by air.The lodge offers two types of accommodation.

Chalets
Palm Tree Lodge has five luxury double bed en-suite chalets situated in magnificent gardens with a swimming pool and separate dining area. The chalets are available for bed and breakfast only.

There are a number of restaurants in the village and at nearby lodges, that offer lunches and dinners.

Self-catering:
Palm Tree Lodge has an exclusive self-catering villa on the same grounds. The villa can accommodate 8 people. The villa has two separate living units, a shared outside kitchen and a large outside boma for meals. The villa is serviced by a housekeeper.

Getting to us

Access by road from South Africa.
The road is tarred all the way from Komatipoort border to Vilanculos & Palmeiras and a 4x4 is not required. Look out for potholes and roadworks. Follow the main toll road from Komatipoort to Maputo. Just before getting into Maputo, you turn left onto the National road EN1 to the North (Xai-Xai, Inhambane, Vilanculos, Beira). From this point the turn-off to the right towards Vilanculos is ±700km. We are located on the beach front in Vilanculos village.

Access by air from South Africa
Vilanculos has an International airport. Currently one can fly with SA Airways or LAM to Maputo and then link with Transairways or LAM from Maputo to Vilanculos (see Mozambique flights below) This may warrant a night stopover in Maputo. Alternatively one can fly direct from Johannesburg International three times a week direct to Vilanculos - Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Contact Backpack Africa for details.
